Project Details
- Location: Portland, OR
A chemical manufacturing and blending facility in Portland OR had issues complying with their sanitary sewer discharge limits for their process wastewater. The site historically had very high concentrations of Chromium, Molybdenum, Nickel, and Zinc. In order for the facility to continue to process chemicals, their wastewater must be treated to reduce these contaminants.
The general treatment train was specified by a request for proposal issued by the client and was ultimately fine tuned by CCS. The facility’s wastewater was highly variable in pH, ranging from 1.5-13, requiring extremely in depth automation to correct pH to a window of 7.25-7.75 ahead of ion exchange. Once commissioned, the treatment system performed completely autonomously and decreased the amount of labor required to treat the wastewater.
